CNU-NTX Fundraiser Benefits Deep Ellum Revitalization

On February 11th in Deep Ellum, joins the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) North Texas for a panel discussion fundraiser about how citizens can reclaim their own neighborhoods. Panelists will reflect upon their success in the revitalization of walkable, transit-friendly, and mixed-use areas in their own communities, and how it applies to Dallas neighborhoods.

The ticket price of $25.00 includes dinner from Wild Salsa, beverages from Deep Ellum Brewing Company, and meaningful conversation about community development.

Panelist includes police officer, Shane Owens, who has established pocket parks and neighborhood cleanups in the Cedars,Joshua King, who is a local artist and co-counder of AURORA Dallas in the Arts District, and Matthew Lewis, the Assistant Director of Planning and Development for the City of Austin and board member of CNU Central Texas.

Funds raised will be used to build demonstration projects of potential public spaces in Deep Ellum. Public space projects will be installed by architecture firms Callison, TBG, and Studio Outside during the CNU's 23rd annual Congress. The national conference will be held in Dallas from April 29-May 2, 2015.

The CNU is the leading organization in the nation promoting walkable, mixed use neighborhood development, sustainable communities, and healthier living conditions.
